The endowment fund renews its commitment to supporting emerging Indonesian women artists by fostering a dialogue between an artist and a leading professional from the contemporary art scene.
Candrani Yulis,
from intimacy to collective
Born in Yogyakarta, Candrani Yulis develops a multidisciplinary practice combining installation, image and video to explore the social, religious and cultural mechanisms that shape contemporary identities.
Through an autoethnographic approach rooted in her own experience, the artist questions the place of women within the Indonesian Muslim community, revealing the tensions between morality, desire, collective norms and intimate subjectivity.
Her work addresses themes such as sexuality, the commodification of religion and the silent forms of domination embedded in everyday life. Between social critique and personal vulnerability, her works open a sensitive space where individual narratives become tools for collective reflection.

a contemporary curatorial perspective
For this second edition, ellipse art projects renews its collaboration with Farah Wardani, an Indonesian art historian and curator committed to promoting contemporary creation in Southeast Asia.
A recognised specialist of the Indonesian art scene, she served as Artistic Director of the Jakarta Biennale in 2013, Executive Director in 2021, and contributed to the publication Indonesian Women Artists: The Curtain Opens (2007). Appointed curator of ARTJOG for the 2026–2028 period, Farah Wardani develops a curatorial approach attentive to the social, cultural and political dynamics inherent to contemporary artistic practices.
Her mentorship reflects a desire to support a new generation of artists by encouraging a critical and situated dialogue.

An original exhibition at the Lyon Biennale
The works produced as part of the program will be presented at the 18th edition of the Lyon Biennale, entitled To Pass from One Dream to Another / Passer d’un rêve à l’autre, one of the leading events on the international contemporary art calendar.
