Since 2021, the ellipse Prize has explored a new art scene on the African continent each year, supporting emerging creation through encounters, exhibitions and production projects.
Celebrating five years of discoveries and collaborations, ellipse brings together artists from the editions dedicated to Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin and Ghana.
Photography, painting, sculpture, textile, installation and performance form a multifaceted landscape of contemporary creation, shaped by territories and encounters over the years.
Curated by Sitor Senghor and ellipse art projects, the exhibition unfolds through the relationships that emerge between the works, beyond geographical boundaries, mediums and editions of the prize.
Materials enter into dialogue with narratives, gestures with landscapes, and bodies with the histories that run through them. The works come together, respond to one another or move apart, revealing new connections.
Through these encounters, ellipse looks back on five years of artistic creation while opening up new trajectories, those that continue to unfold between the artists, their works and their audiences.
