Since 2021, the ellipse prize has explored a new art scene on the African continent each year. To celebrate five years of collaboration with AKAA, a partner of the prize since its creation, ellipse art projects presents a photographic exhibition echoing the bicentenary of photography celebrated in 2026.
The exhibition brings together Khalifa Hussein, Keren Lasme, Koffi Seble, Nauld Adjahuime and Nana Frimpong Oduro, five finalist photographers from the editions dedicated respectively to Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin and Ghana.
Through their distinctive practices, this selection offers a glimpse into the diversity of contemporary West African photography supported by the endowment fund over the past five years.
Bodies, faces, gestures and presences run through the works on view. Whether staged, observed or transformed through the image, they become starting points for narratives that are both personal and collective.
Through portraits, collective scenes and visual experimentation, the five artists explore identity, memory and transmission in their own ways. From one photograph to the next, the intimate meets the collective, revealing the connections that bind us to one another.
