Today a writter and visual artist, Lala Bohang graduated from the Architecture University of Parahyangan in Bandung. Her artistic practice aims to explore personal stories, routine and banal things that are often overlooked.
Through a certain style of narration, Lala Bohang approaches history as something other than a simple chronology, as it is taught in schools.
Part artistic installation and part historical novel, the artist’s overall work reinterprets stories in the form of narrative installations featuring fictive characters in a real historic context, appropriate to her country.
Inspired by her publication “The book of forbidden feelings”, Lala Bohang makes a new installation made up of banal everyday objects, the antithesis of perfection, success and the superficial, thus going against what obsesses people.
Since 2009, Lala Bohang has presented her productions during many collective exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad and has notably won the international Ronald McDonald Prize in 2020.
