Bhinneka Tunggal Ika

Considered as a process of maintaining emotions and memory, the art of embroidery allows Meita Meilita to materialize the complexity of the female condition. The artist also addresses domestic needs, symbolizing both the idea of buying material goods and the way we consume them.

In this way, the artist highlights the incompatibility between the increasingly complex needs of modern man and the challenges facing society.

The textiles as a shared story

The artist encourages many women to share their stories and emotions by creating participatory fabric installations. This process is designed to nurture the bonds that unite us, and to explore the complexity of the female condition in today’s society.

The artist’s artworks has been exhibited on the occasion of the ARTJOG 2022 in Yogyakarta, and during the Indonesian Contemporary Art and Design in 2023.
