Inès Katamso began her career creating murals before turning to smaller formats, giving her access to a more intimate scale to skim her inner world.
Drawing on both a scientific and spiritual perspective, the artist studies micro-organisms and fossils to question the harmony of our environment and reconsider the concept of human life.
Reinvesting the traditional “Ikat” dyeing technique, this work pays tribute to the rich heritage of local craftsmanship. This elaborate process produces intricate, vibrant patterns that make each piece unique.
Inès Katamso also wants to highlight myths and beliefs as the circular regeneration one: three gods in the form of dragons, called the three Naga, visited the earth to save it from environmental catastrophe. Symbolizing fertility, prosperity and balance, this entity of Balinese cosmogony celebrates the link between nature and human beliefs.
