Incertitudes of the painter
Nobel Koty

Winner of the 2024 edition of the ellipse Prize dedicated to Benin, Nobel Koty will present in France an original series of nine canvases

The self-portrait as the mirror of human turmoil

Inspired by the animist tradition, implying that the body, the soul and the spirit are inseparable, “Incertitudes” illustrates the physical manifestation of the emotions experienced by humans plagued by doubts. These phases of torment disrupt the constant need of control inherent to human nature, thereby unsettling one’s internal balance.

Gathering nine canvases, the exhition “Incertitudes” leads the viewer into a deep introspection, confronting them with their own frustrations and the need to let go to attain inner peace.

Exploration of human fragility

Through this exhibition, the winner of the 2024 ellipse Prize highlights the fragility of the human being in the face of uncertainties and forces beyond their control. Each painting becomes an intimate and sensory exploration of the human condition, blending vulnerability, resilience, and hope.

Both personal and universal, Nobel Koty’s work offers a space for contemplation where uncertainty becomes the starting point for an exploration of oneself and others. An invitation to let go and embrace life’s uncertainties with humility and curiosity.
