Ndokette Session
exhibition of the Senegalese collective Atelier Ndokette

The work of the Atelier Ndokette collective, winner of the ellipse Prize 2021, was exhibited at the AKAA fair, mixing photos, video and textile installation.

A travel through
time and traditions

Atelier Ndokette’s exhibition at AKAA 2021 questioned the relationship to time and the passage of objects through it.

Gathered around the Ndokette, Senegalese traditional dress, it represents for them a gateway to a world in which memories (past) and the dreams (future) are projected on objects (present).

Research over time

The work of the collective Atelier Ndokette is based on the research of a temporality not composed by three phases (past – present – future) but only one: the future as an integral part of the present and the past.

Atelier Ndokette puts the present as a temporality deserving more attention: a present revealing the conscious and the unconscious, the real and the unreal with many shades.
