Welcome to the Plastic Age
Inès Katamso

The first beneficiary of the +E mentorship, Inès Katamso presents her project during the 17th Lyon Biennale as part of the Jeune création internationale program, in partnership with the Institut d’art contemporain of Villeurbanne and the MAC Lyon.

The first edition of the +E program

Recently unveiled, the +E program aims to encourage artistic emergence and the recognition of women on the international contemporary scene.

This year, Farah Wardani, an expert curator of the Indonesian art scene, supports the young artist Inès Katamso to co-create an original work to be presented at the 17th Biennale of Lyon.

She will exhibit her installation from September 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025, at the Institut d’art contemporain of Villeurbanne.

An installation denouncing
the impact of plastic

Inspired by Balinese tales, Inès Katamso considers this matter as a monstrous creature, denaturing the environment and transforming all living beings into chimeric entities.

The artist thus materializes the consequences of plastic through three natural reigns: the plants, the animals and the minerals, in forms of cold colors sculptures, symbols of sterility. Imbued with Hindu culture and mythology, this exhibition offers a unique aesthetics inviting the audience to reflect on the degradation of our ecosystem.
